Code Her Future Kenya

In Kenya’s informal settlements, a quiet gap was widening. While boys spent hours in cyber cafés playing PC games and exploring computers, many girls went there only occasionally to pay for basic services like downloading WhatsApp, Facebook, or Instagram.

Without the skills to navigate technology, they were left dependent on others for simple digital tasks. This imbalance exposed them to exploitation and even teenage pregnancies, as “help” sometimes came with hidden costs.

Code Her Future Kenya was created to change this story. We equip girls with practical digital skills, building the confidence to use technology safely and independently. From curiosity to coding, we transform risk into resilience—ensuring that girls are not just users of technology but creators, leaders, and changemakers in the digital world. Beyond training, we also support their transition into job placements or self-employment opportunities, helping them turn knowledge into lasting economic empowerment.

All training, mentorship, and placement support are provided completely free of charge, ensuring that cost is never a barrier to a girl’s future in technology.

What We Teach

Basic Computer Packages — We start with the fundamentals — typing, formatting documents, creating spreadsheets, and using essential tools like Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
Coding Foundations — Girls are introduced to the building blocks of the web, including HTML, CSS, and basic programming logic. We emphasize creativity and hands-on practice.
Graphic Design — Using tools like Canva and Adobe Photoshop, students learn to design flyers, logos, posters, and social media content — skills they can use to freelance or support local businesses.
Digital Marketing & Online Research — From managing a Facebook page to using search engines effectively, students explore how to promote ideas, products, or businesses online.

Digital Literacy & Safe Internet Use — We teach responsible online behavior, cyber safety, and how to navigate the internet with confidence and awareness.

Through our Digital Library, learners access eBooks, tutorials, templates, and real-world resources that reinforce learning and prepare them for freelancing, further study, or entry-level digital work.

The Impact

We have trained over 720 girls, completely free of charge. Every young woman in our program gains access to life-changing digital skills, without cost being a barrier.

When I finished the Code Her Future training, I got a job as a waitress at a hotel. Because of my digital skills certificate, I’ve now been promoted to cashier and I also manage the hotel’s social media pages. I never thought tech would open such doors for me.
