Providing Mental Relief for Caregivers in Mathare Informal Settlements

At Ready Aiders Foundation, every day begins with the hope of creating lasting impact in the lives of children and families in underserved communities. On a chilly early morning in Mathare, Nairobi, this vision came alive in a unique way. Together with our partners at Daima Initiatives for Peace and Development (DiPaD), represented by Brenda and Naomi, we created a morning filled with therapy, healing, and connection.

While 50 children on the Autism Spectrum Disorder participated in specialized therapy sessions led by our team, Brenda and Naomi facilitated one-on-one conversations with parents and caregivers. This approach is intentional — because true healing is holistic. Children thrive best when caregivers are also supported, empowered, and equipped with the emotional resilience needed to nurture them at home.

For potential donors, partners, mentors, and collaborators, this story is more than just an update. It is an invitation to witness how collective effort bridges gaps in mental health and trauma care for vulnerable communities. In Mathare, where families often face the weight of poverty and hardship, the need for safe, inclusive spaces is urgent. By creating these spaces, we are not only supporting individual families but also laying the foundation for a more peaceful and resilient society.

Our collaboration with DiPaD reflects a shared belief: that peacebuilding begins with people. Healing is not abstract; it is visible in the courage of parents who show up for therapy, in the determination of children who keep learning and growing, and in the commitment of partners who choose to stand with us.
